Eric Teusink Considers bid for HD59 Seat

It appears we have a second candidate to replace Margaret Kaiser for the HD-59 seat representing part of Atlanta.

Eric Teusink, a lawyer and longtime activist in the Democratic Party of Georgia said in a statement to Peach Pundit that he is looking at running for Kaiser’s seat.

He said:

“The service and leadership of our elected officials and community leaders have a profound impact on people’s everyday lives. For many years, I have been fortunate enough to be able to work on behalf of my community at a grassroots level. My friend and mentor Representative Margaret Kaiser’s recent decision to run for Mayor of Atlanta has presented me with a unique opportunity. Should she choose not to seek reelection in House District 59, I do not see how I could possibly pass up a chance to represent the community I love while working to make our state a better place for all Georgians.”

David Dreyer, also an attorney in Atlanta, announced on Twitter after Sine Die that he would run to replace Kaiser. What makes things somewhat interesting is that both Dreyer and Teusink are past presidents of the Red Clay Democrats.Teusink rose to local prominence in October when his love of beer was profiled by The Daily Report.
