Pre-Thanksgiving MRs

Who else is already in line for Black Friday??!?!

“Muscle’n Flo” by Menomena.

After you watch GSU beat the University of Old Mississippi tonight, stay tuned to watch the Erislandy Lara bout.

  1. Washington Post: Former GSU coach Lefty Driesell “absolutely belongs in Hall of Fame.”
  2. BBC: Our own Clarkston is the “most diverse square mile” in the U.S.
  3. The Bern and Killer Mike walk into Busy Bee Cafe…
  4. Marketplace looks at the fight in Atlanta betwixt Uber and cabs. TL;DR–cabbies whine “but we were here first!”
  5. Atlanta has three of the country’s worst bottlenecks. Shocking, I know.
  6. The latest, pie-in-the-sky expansion plan for MARTA. (All this could be yours for the new, low-low price of $8 billion!)
  7. Did you know there is a website to track Atlanta’s bond package?
  8. Gang numbers in Atlanta spike. And they’re found in the safe, bland utopia of OTP.
  9. Savannah’s the Grey wins (another) national award; Atlanta’s award winners aren’t too shabby.

I’m calling BS. If you were already in line for Black Friday, these would have been called the Mobile Pre-ThanksFriday MRs.

  2. George Chidi says:

I am … displeased … with Phil Kent’s characterization of Brannon Hill’s gang problem in Clarkston as driven by Somalis. The gang members there are Rollin’ 100s, a Crip set (NCG, to be specific) out of Memphis, with a few native DeKalbians in the mix.

Mr. Hooker, yes, I am talking about you.

The right has discovered Brannon Hill, which is good, because perhaps now someone will actually do something about it. But lying about the ethnic nature of the criminality there solves none of their problems. It simply uses a falsehood to demonize the lot, to one’s own political benefit.

Alas, that seems to be the way politics works these days.

Brannon Hill is unincorporated Dekalb, not the city of Clarkston. It’s been a dump for 15 years. The Jones and Ellis administrations did nothing about the problem. Now it’s up to May and the district commissioner who I believe is Sherry Sutton.

Ethnicity of the residents is irrelevant other than to show the bad living conditions of some immigrants.

  3. Michael Silver says:

I already pulled the trigger on my Black Friday purchases.

I ordered 300 pounds of weightlifting plates and kettlebells from Rogue Fitness and only had to pay $5 for shipping. That is a savings of $160, at least. I love Black Friday!!!!!

    • Will Durant says:

Football chaplains? I knew football was a religion in these parts but had no idea they have their own clergy. Blessed are they who crunch their opponent for thy team’s sake for they will have a place in the kingdom of the NFL.

Oh, and what is the Lt. Governor’s stance on another item this week that we pay some of the high school football coaches six figures? We all know how much most of them contribute to academics.
