Herschel Walker Files FEC Paperwork to Run for U.S. Senate

The AJC reports that former UGA star Herschel Walker has filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to seek the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. Walker hasn’t officially announced yet, but filing the paperwork is obviously a step toward making an announcement and is a sign that he’s finally getting off the sideline (no pun intended).

Of course, state and national Republicans are concerned, rightfully, that Walker won’t be a good candidate and will cost the party a critical pickup opportunity in the midterm election. A recent poll showed Walker trailing Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA), 48 percent to 46 percent, but within the poll’s margin of error.
