Rush Has Passed
Sad news today:
Rush Limbaugh, conservative talk radio pioneer, dead at 70
I still remember the first time I heard about Rush Limbaugh. I was on a jury and when we went into the room to deliberate, there was a copy of Time magazine. As I glanced through it, there was a blurb about the controversial conservative shock jock. I thought, I gotta find this guy on the radio. I did, on 640 AM, WGST, then known as the “News Monster.” Rush used to say it took about six weeks to get used to him, but I was hooked after one day. He was funny, smart, and very talented. He took on the Left, but back in those days it was all about poking fun of political opponents with the purpose of educating listeners on conservatism.
I drifted away during the 2016 campaign, as I drifted away from all talk radio, but I still fondly remember those early days of Rush’s show. He gave courage to a generation of conservatives and his impact was immense.
Godspeed and Mega Dittos Rush.
