State Revenue Commissioner Enters race for 10th Congressional District

David Curry, who has served as the Georgia’s State Revenue Commissioner (also read as chief tax collector), announced today on his Facebook page that he will run for Georgia’s 10th Congressional District. We assume he is running for the Republican nomination because a brief image of Ronald Reagan is featured in his announcement video, but the word Republican is not on his home page of his campaign site.

Mr. Curry hails from McDonough and grew up in Henry County. He holds an MBA from Georgia State and his political experience includes first being elected Henry County’s Tax Commissioner in 2008.

The 10th District is currently represented by Congressman Jody Hice, who is currently engaged in a quixotic quest of his own.

The 10th district is a strangely shaped beast, and if I were a betting man it won’t look like this when the maps are redrawn later this year. Which compels me to ask if an announcement for a guy who lives in McDonough might be premature?
