Peach Pundit Founder to Speak at Atlanta YRs

Peach Pundit founder and nationally syndicated radio talk show host Erick Erickson will be joining the Atlanta Young Republicans tonight for a discussion on conservative politics and policies. The meeting will begin at 7:00PM for networking at Park Bench at the Battery Atlanta.

There is no cost to attend, but please RSVP on the AYR’s event page.

Erickson and Clayton Wager founded PeachPundit.com in June 2005 as a Peach State project while Erickson was running RedState.com.

The original “About” page described the blog as:

Peach Pundit brings you the latest in unfiltered, raw politics from the Peach State. Georgia has become an integral part of national politics as part of the Deep South electoral block, and the 2006 elections will reflect larger trends for local and national candidates in 2008.

The Great State Of Georgia is shaping up to have some of the most interesting races in the country in 2006. The first Republican governor since Reconstruction will fiercly defend his incumbancy against a strong Democrat opponent. That opponent just might be the sitting Secretary of State, a woman who is widely recognized, well liked, and well financed.

The Lieutenant Governor’s race is equally exciting, with a Republican Primary season showing us you don’t need to wait for July 4th to enjoy some fireworks. Ralph Reed, the nationally known conservative political consultant is coming on strong against Casey Cagle, the enthusiastic State Senator who made a splash in Georgia Politics a decade ago.

All of this, plus a big heaping of local politics from around the state. So sit back, make yourself a glass of sweet tea, and enjoy the race.

And, we’re asked from time to time – Why peaches? Aren’t peanuts a big crop down there. Well, yes. But we find peanuts to be a little too – Plains.
