Back To School (Choice)

This school year marks a monumental moment for freedom in education for Georgia. For the first time, many Georgia students have real options for their education with the Georgia Promise Scholarship. Governor Kemp, Lt. Governor Jones, Speaker Burns and the conservative majorities in the House and Senate deserve admiration for their bold action. They did what many said was impossible, delivering opportunity to families who need it most.

In 2024, SB 233 brought meaningful school choice opportunities to Georgia with $6,500 Education Savings Accounts for participating families with children in failing schools beginning with the 2025-2026 school year. We believe parents and families are best suited to make education decisions, and students should not be trapped in failing government schools simply because of the zip code they reside in.

From MyGeorgiaPromise.org:

Signed into law in 2024, through Senate Bill 233, the Georgia Promise Scholarship Program is aimed to empower families to pursue exceptional educational programs through nonpublic schooling, including private school and home study. Should eligible families choose to leave public school (or forgo attending as a new kindergartener) to participate, the Georgia Promise Scholarship will allow families to use funds for private school tuition and fees, required textbooks, tutoring services, curriculum, physician/therapist services, transportation services, and other approved expenses.

There is more work to be done in support of true freedom in education, but for those of us in this movement, we owe a debt of gratitude to Governor Kemp and the Georgia General Assembly. We are thankful to Governor Kemp, Lt. Governor Jones, Speaker Burns, Speaker Pro Tem Jones, Majority Leader Efstration, Sen. Dolezal, Rep. Jones, and the 91 Representatives and 33 Senators who voted to put students over systems.
