Judge Sets Deadline For PAC To Find Willis Replacement. PAC Asks For More Time.

The case that never ends might finally be coming to an end. Fulton DA Fani Willis’ sweeping RICO case against President Trump and a cast of thousands has seen more twists and turns than the road between Vogel State Park and Lake Winfield Scott.

After the Georgia Supreme Court ruled that DA Willis must be removed from the case, it fell to our friends at the Prosecuting Attorney’s Council to find a different prosecutor to take up the cause. If you will recall, PAC was put in a similar situation when the Courts ruled that DA Willis could not investigate Lt. Governor Burt Jones. Willis had hosted a fundraiser for Jones’ Democratic opponent in the 2022 General Election, which the Courts agreed was not what a prosecutor in her position should be doing while investigating Jones.

That case, however, was not nearly as scintillating as what unfolded in the case against Trump and the other defendants.

Willis hired her boyfriend, Nathan Wade, to lead the case. She then paid him between $653,000 and $1,000,000 for the privilege.

Friday, Fulton County Superior Judge Scott McAfee gave PAC 14 days to name a new prosecutor.

“Should an appointed prosecuting attorney or representative of PAC fail to file an entry of appearance or request a particularized extension within 14 days from the entry of this Notice, the Court will issue a dismissal without prejudice for want of prosecution,” the judge wrote.

This afternoon, PAC asked the Judge for more time.

Pete Skandalakis, executive director of the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council, said in a court filing Monday that his office has yet to receive the physical case file and does not expect to receive it for about four weeks. He asked McAfee to reconsider his order or to give him at least 90 days after he receives the case file to appoint a new prosecutor.

More twists and turns.
