Other Embarassing County Party Actions

Jason pointed out that the Catoosa GOP doubled down on their Quixotic Quest to rid their county of undesirables. But two other county parties took action at their conventions that caused me to wonder anew “What the heck has happened to my Party?”

Up in Whitfield County, the assembled delegates unanimously censured Senator Chuck Payne for, among other things, voting FOR a tax cut and FOR tort reform. What?

Reasonable people can disagree on Governor Kemp’s lawsuit reform legislation but I never thought I’d see the day grassroots Republican activists attacked a Legislator for voting to cut the income tax rate.

In Fulton County, several resolutions were adopted that cause one to wonder if MAGA/MAHA have substituted the GOP Platform with the 1970s cult classic “None Dare Call It Conspiracy

Here are some highlights of resolutions adopted unanimously:

Call to remove fluoride from water in Fulton:

Calls to oppose “lab-grown meat” and pause 5G rollout because of safety concerns.

Stopping weather manipulation.

Censure motions by local county parties at their conventions are practically worthless. Very few voters in Senator Payne’s district will even be aware this action was taken and I suspect he’ll be reelected in 2026 without much trouble if he chooses to run again.

Resolutions, IMHO, serve no good purpose except to advance the agendas of conspiracy theorists and troublemakers. These are the kind of folks who claim to have secret knowledge they must share with the rest of the world.

To be clear, I don’t think most delegates at the Fulton County GOP Convention agree with the things I mentioned above – which begs the question: Why allow these sorts of silly resolutions to see the light of day?

Come on folks, knock off the silly internet-rumor conspiracies and get back to what a political party exists to do: elect Republicans!
