Why Georgia Cities Should Reject Ethics Ordinances
When I was on city council in Macon, I said this would happen. Sure enough, the Mayor of Valdosta, Scott James Matheson, is being targeted by progressives under the Georgia model ethics ordinance, which Valdosta has adopted.
Why? He is also the owner of a conservative talk station and sits behind the microphone. A progressive academic and local progressive groups have decided that means he cannot be fair.
They are not actually targeting him for what he has done as mayor. They are targeting him for being a conservative radio host too. This has major constitutional implications and Republicans around the state should be opposed to further expansion of this model ordinance.
