State Representative Renitta Shannon of Decatur announced this morning she is running for Lt. Governor. Shannon joins fellow State Representatives Erick Allen and Derrick Jackson, among others, in the race for the Democratic nomination. Senator Elena Parent is rumored to be considering a run as well.
As you’ll see in the video below, Shannon is running as a progressive Democrat. Will that force her fellow candidates to compete for those votes? Is the progressive wing of the Democratic Party the dominant wing? I think evidence suggests is it not yet the dominant wing, but what do I know?
This is shaping up to be an interesting race.
