Guess Who’s Back

We were recently made aware of this website today. This adds one more to the race to replace Jody Hice.

You may be saying to your self right now “Eric, that name looks familiar.” And you’d be correct.

Collins previously ran in the 2014 cycle to replace Paul Broun (previous member from GA-10 and now currently running for his old seat again) when he decided it’d be a good idea to run for Senate to replace Saxby Chambliss. Collins made it through the primary to the runoff and then lost to Hice. Mike Collins is also the son of former congressman Mac Collins, who ran against Johnny Isakson for Senate in 2004. 1

You may also remember this gem of an ad trying to recreate one of the most famous truck ads.

Collins is clearly attempting to court the Trump base. I am clearly not his target voter, but I can’t say I was last time around either. From what I remember last time around in the primary, it appears he’s taken a hard right turn from where he was then. Don’t get me wrong, I would have categorized him as a median member of the Republican Study Committee. However, now I’d say he’s solidly Freedom Caucus.

May the odds be ever in your favor to see who can go further right in this race. Hopefully, it won’t give us another member like She Who Shall Not Be Named in GA-14.

1 Side note: If you are in politics and there may be an inkling of a possibility that your progeny will run for office, can we please get a little more differentiation in first names?
