This Frost Rabbit Hole is Deep

I have spoken with and exchanged texts with several elected officials and former candidates who have come forward after my last post to let me know they are looking into ways to return the campaign contributions they received either directly from Brant Frost IV or through his associated Georgia Republican Assembly PAC. It warms my heart.

The best part of that is that at least two tell me they had already attempted to contact the SEC to see how best to proceed.

On the podcast I pointed out that returning the cash would be no easy task, as the PAC was shut down by Frost just before the First Liberty shut down operations. Waiting for direction from the court appointed receiver is the responsible way to handle this.

Curiously, in addition to the $100,000 Frost transferred to himself while he knew the SEC was about to take action, Frost sent out several campaign contributions just before shutting the PAC down. These are the types of actions that continue to show that Frost had little to no care about his victims getting that money back.

We now know that the court has in fact appointed a receiver in the case and that Frost’s assets have been frozen. Frost agreed to the terms laid out in court and issued an statement that fell short of an apology, but does reads like an admission of guilt to the casual observer.

I take full responsibility for my actions and am resolved to spend the rest of my life trying to repay as much as I can to the many people I misled and let down. I will be cooperating with the receiver and federal authorities and ask that everyone allow the receiver time to sort things out and do his best to repair the damage I created. – Brant Frost IV

People who are sorry don’t transfer themselves cash. Or write campaign checks with money that can and should be returned. I think he is only sorry that he got caught.

And while I promised that I would spend time looking through various public records, I have found some things that connect Frost to a whole bunch of things that lead to additional questions. From knocking on the door of a legislator in an apparent attempt to intimidate him, to funding dirty campaigns, to sexual assault allegations of people they have supported. I cannot possibly make any of it up. It needs to be a Netflix documentary.

But again, this is a very deep rabbit hole. We will be talking to victims soon to get their stories. And in the mean time, because some of this is potentially explosive, I am not comfortable running with it until I am able to double source some of it. I want to be able to tell you we did the work to verify the information before we put it out there.

And there is more than just the details of the story we need to cover. We also need to engage in some in some well earned introspection.

So stay tuned and check back. It’s going to take time, but the story is out there; it ain’t going anywhere. And neither are we.
