Protect Religious Freedom and Confirm Mark Walker
The U.S. Senate confirming Mark Walker as the Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom is paramount to protecting religious liberty across the globe. President Trump’s nominees should be confirmed rapidly and judiciously by the U.S. Senate. The American people spoke clearly in 2024, giving President Trump an overwhelming mandate with wins in the popular vote, every battleground state, the U.S. House, and the U.S. Senate. Our country deserves an Administration with a full complement of people delivering for the American people.
My friend, Former Congressman Mark Walker, was nominated to be our Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom in April. We are honored to have him as a featured speaker for our Victory Dinner on September 15 alongside Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, Dr. Michael Youssef and more. The Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom is mandated by law to be the principal advisor to the President and Secretary of State on matters of international religious freedom. As a former minister and legislator, Mark Walker is eminently qualified for this crucial role. He has the right temperament and knowledge base to be effective immediately. The Senate has had more than enough time to confirm Congressman Walker. It is time to act.
Across the globe, we see an alarming rise in antisemitism, increasing anti-Christian bias, the persecution of the Uyghurs in China, and more. Millions of people worldwide are facing discrimination, slavery, and death based solely on their religious identity. This vacancy needs to be filled immediately and Mark Walker is the right man for the job.
Religious liberty is a fundamental right and a top priority of our organization. In the last two years, the Georgia Faith & Freedom Coalition has championed historic protections for religious freedom and key legislation combating antisemitism. Thanks to Governor Kemp and the conservative majorities in the State House and Senate, Georgia is both the number one state in which to do business and a leader in the fight for religious liberty.
We are blessed to have our religious freedom enshrined in the Constitution, but, frankly, it is easy to take that blessing for granted. Across the globe, many do not have any protections. The Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom has a key role in documenting and supporting religious freedom worldwide, advising on all matters relating to international religious freedom. The Georgia Faith & Freedom Coalition will stand unapologetically for the right of people of faith to live out their sincerely held beliefs at home and abroad. Confirming Mark Walker is imperative to this effort.
