  1. Am I wrong or did you two just discover that there is a large bloc of Nazi-philes and Hitler-lovers in the GOP? With respect, that’s not news to most people. People I know, both in the GOP and not, would consider a Carlson/Fuentes sit-down interesting only to the extent that it helps decide which one is the greater cynic and grifter. Loving up on Hitler wouldn’t surprise them.

It was just a week ago you were excusing the YRs getting all race-y and Nazi-like. They were just boys who should know better, right?

GOP congressional staffs take weeks to recognize swastika flags that are apparent in seconds to others. Musk and Bannon offer up Nazi salutes. Trump ignores blood and soil chants.

Does any of this sound familiar?

    1. I left out Paul Ingrassia. I believe he truly has or thinks he has a Nazi streak. Do you?

    2. We have consistently blasted antisemitism on the right for some time now, and praising voices, like Senator Fetterman, for fighting it on the left. And no, we certainly have not excused anything about the YR text scandal. That segment is literally called “Sick YR’s.”

We have posts written about blood and soil references here, so maybe go read them and determine if it is a familiar problem.

      You must be new here.

It’s why we mock Kandiss Taylor so hard and so often in our own backyard.

Now, you do Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib.

      1. Yep I’m new here, but I don’t think I misrepresented your and Buzz’ response to the YR. Just bros hanging out who should have known better, I believe you said.

KT is easy to mock because she’s a)nuts and b)irrelevant, but she’s not an elected rep, not even one way to the left of you (and me). I don’t have to ‘do’ Omar and Tlaib, they have constituents for that job. Besides, haven’t you mentioned the dangers of whataboutism before?

Did you read David French today? He condemns people who are way more upset at attacks on Carlson and Fuentes than they are about the softball interview itself. That’s SOP for too many people much too often. The moral excesses of the right simply don’t matter.

        1. Since you are new here, welcome.

The YR’s are irrelevant by the standard you judge Taylor.

Perhaps a story about my evolution about Taylor is in order, because there was a time I chided my colleagues here for wanting to talk about her at all because I believed at the time that giving her attention raised her profile and drew the weirdos to her like a moths to flame. Over time I began to see her influence within the party grow and my eyes were opened to just how damaging she is. Since then we have called it like we see it without concern whether it would give them a boost because they are getting boosted with or without our mockery.

And you *have* completely misunderstood what I and Buzz said. For the sake of the conversation I opened about how group chats are rife with language that is not suitable for polite society. As a result I shared with the audience that my initial reaction to the Politico story was a bit of skepticism about the reporting. But I did not stop there. We proceeded to lift up the Georgia YR’s who condemned the members of the chat. Buzz went so far as to say the participants in the chat should, “never work in politics again.”

That was not excusing their behavior.

Here is what I actually said:
“I started out from a point of view of I’m willing to give kids the benefit of doubt, right? But as I started thinking about this more, I mean, that was my first knee-jerk reaction. I’m with you, Buzz. We have to police our own. We absolutely have to police our own.

Otherwise, to your point that you made earlier about the left and their private places and where they discuss things. We have a candidate running for attorney general in Virginia who has fantasized about seeing the child of one of his political opponents die in their mother’s arms. And Spanberger, who’s running for governor, has endorsed that candidate and has been asked on multiple occasions, will you still vote for him? Will you, do you still endorse him? And she won’t answer the yes or no question… the reporter who was moderating that debate asked her three separate times. Are you willing to withdraw your endorsement of Jay Jones is the guy who his text messages came out and they’re they’re horrific.

They’re they’re on the same level. Frankly, if you don’t think they’re on the same level, you’re looking at it through the lens of your tribe. You’re like a Georgia or an Alabama fan. They’re both bad. It’s OK to say they’re both bad.

And these are not the people that we should be elevating into leadership positions. I’m sorry. There’s somebody else out there who isn’t doing that, who can still articulate a conservative message and why they believe what they believe and not have to rely on this just because they decided at a young age, they wanted to get involved in politics and they screwed it up. Sorry. There are no mulligans. There are no mulligans and we have to police ourselves. Otherwise, it’s going to continue to descend into chaos. You have a left right now that’s not willing to do it. What makes us different, what makes us the shining city on a hill is that we are different this way. We do not tolerate this stuff.”

        2. Oh, and by the way, Jimmy, we don’t appreciate people if they spread falsehoods. You can have a difference of opinion, but you aren’t allowed to lie.

          Consider this your mulligan.
