America First Doesn’t Mean America Naïve
No one wants war. No reasonable person roots for it. War should never be our first choice. But here’s the uncomfortable truth: we don’t always get to choose how a war starts. We do, however, get to choose whether we are prepared to finish it.
Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene posted a long statement on Facebook recently claiming that being “America First” means staying out of any conflict involving Israel and Iran. She went so far as to suggest that anyone who wants the U.S. to take an active role in such a conflict is not a true MAGA supporter.
Everyone is finding out who are real America First/MAGA and who were fake and just said it bc it was popular.
Unfortunately the list of fakes are becoming quite long and exposed themselves quickly.
Anyone slobbering for the U.S. to become fully involved in the Israel/Iran war is not America First/MAGA.
Wishing for murder of innocent people is disgusting.
We are sick and tired of foreign wars. All of them.
And this one will quickly engulf the Middle East, BRICS, and NATO as countries are required to take a side.
Real America First/MAGA wants world peace for all people and doesn’t want our military killed and forever injured physically and mentally.
We love our U.S. military and love them helping to secure our borders and our cities for the defense of OUR PEOPLE AND OUR COUNTRY.
They are our friends, spouses, cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters, brothers, sons, and daughters.
We have spent TRILLIONS in the Middle East and we have dealt with the aftermath of death, blown apart bodies, never ending suicides, and disabling PTSD.
All because they told us propaganda as to why we must sacrifice our own to defend some other country’s borders and some other country’s borders.
I don’t want to see Israel bombed or Iran bombed or Gaza bombed.
I don’t want to see Ukraine bombed or Russia bombed.
And we do NOT want to be involved or required to pay for ANY OF IT!!!
We are $36+ TRILLION in debt and have mountains of our own problems.
We have giant planks sticking out of our own eyes while we complain about splinters in other’s eyes.
Every country involved and all over the world can be happy, successful, and rich if we all work together and seek peace and prosperity.
Taking this position is NOT antisemitic.
It’s rational, sane, and loving toward all people.
Taking this position of peace and prosperity for all is not isolationism, it leads to GREAT trade deals and GREAT economies that help ALL PEOPLE.
It’s what many Americans voted for in 2024.
America First!
America First!!
America First!!!
That is how we Make America Great Again!!!!!
Let’s be clear. It is possible to want peace and still recognize a threat. It is possible to oppose endless war and still believe that our enemies shouldn’t have nuclear weapons. Iran is not some misunderstood neighbor. It is a theocratic regime that burns American flags in the streets and leads chants of “Death to America” in its parliament and public squares. This isn’t some decades-old relic from the hostage crisis era. Iranian leaders and crowds have shouted “Death to America” as recently as 2020 at the funeral of Qassem Soleimani and again during anti-Israel rallies in 2023.
There is no trade deal on the horizon with Iran. And a nuclear Iran is not a splinter in someone else’s eye, it is, sadly, a plank in our own.
What Greene is proposing isn’t America First. It’s America blindfolded. Iran’s leadership has made its hatred for America and our allies explicit. It has backed proxy groups like Hezbollah and Hamas to wage war on Israel and destabilize the region. Pretending that we can isolate ourselves from their actions because we’re tired of foreign entanglements is not strategy. It’s fantasy, and a dangerous one.
And while we’re on the topic of foreign threats, let’s not ignore the fact that Greene’s America First rhetoric often sounds suspiciously sympathetic to Russia. She has echoed Kremlin talking points about the war in Ukraine and repeatedly criticized efforts to support Ukraine’s defense, despite the fact that Russia is also a geopolitical adversary actively working to undermine American interests around the globe. Iran and Russia aren’t neutral actors. They aren’t peaceful neighbors who just want to be left alone. They are aligned politically and militarily against the West. That includes us.
So what exactly does Greene mean when she says “America First”? Because if it involves looking the other way while Iran builds a nuclear bomb or while Russia redraws international borders by force, that doesn’t sound like America First to me. That sounds like letting our enemies get stronger while we tell ourselves we’re staying out of it.
Being America First means protecting our people, our interests, and our allies. It means deterring war through strength and clarity, not inviting it through weakness and confusion. Wanting peace is admirable. But wishing for peace without preparing for the alternative isn’t strategy. It’s surrender.
The world is more dangerous and more complicated than ever. It demands leaders who understand how foreign policy, military deterrence, and economic strength all work together to keep America safe. Greene’s worldview is stuck in slogans. It isn’t serious, it isn’t strategic, and it isn’t up to the challenges of our time.
