Don’t Give Colton Moore Money

I have been around politics long enough that these days I can easily and justifiably be accused of being cynical. I am not so sure, as I just see the motives behind some of the decisions being made in the Georgia political universe through the lens of my own experience. And right now, my GAPOL version of spidey-sense is warning me about this:

You can accuse me of cynicism all you want, but heed this warning: this is nothing more than an effort to separate his followers from their hard earned cash.

The poll he cites is from a group of people who think that Josh McKoon is not sufficiently Trumpy enough to be re-elected as chair of the GAGOP. It is not a legitimate or scientific poll and it does not demonstrate his strength as a candidate. But he knows this, so there is a very high probability he has no intention of actually announcing, but every intent to put on a show to get people to send him money so he can “explore the idea.”

The release is written with enough wiggle room to fit a school bus through. “Whether it’s in Washington as U. S. Senator, serving in President Trump’s administration abroad, or remaining right here in Georgia…” Emphasis mine.

That is a very significant use of the word, “or.” And for the grand finale, he throws in Jesus just for good measure, this way when the money has been spent he can always claim obedience to God for not following through. “We prayed, and the good Lord has made His will clear to me, and it is not yet my time to seek the Republican nomination for US Senate. But thanks for the cash!”

Don’t get snookered by this blatant grift.
